Welcome to Violet Pineapple: Our Story & Why We're Passionate About UK-Made Jewellery
Share
Hello and welcome to the very first Violet Pineapple blog post! We're so excited to finally share our story with you and explain why we started this colourful little business from our home in Surrey.
It All Started With a Vision
Like many creative ventures, Violet Pineapple was born from a simple frustration: I couldn't find what I was looking for on the high street. I'd always been drawn to abstract art and neon colours, those bold, eye-catching pieces that make you stop and stare in galleries. I wanted to translate that energy into something wearable, something that could bring a pop of colour and joy to everyday life.
The problem? Nothing quite matched what I had in mind. I searched everywhere for unique handmade earrings that captured that artistic, vibrant spirit, but came up empty-handed. So, I did what any creative person would do. I decided to make them myself!
Creating Something for Everyone
From the very beginning, accessibility was important to us. We wanted to create beautiful, hand crafted earrings that wouldn't break the bank. Jewellery should be fun, expressive, and available to everyone, regardless of age or budget. Whether you're 18 or 80, there should be a pair of earrings that makes you smile when you put them on.
That's why every piece at Violet Pineapple is lovingly handmade from polymer clay right here in the UK. Each pair of handmade clay earrings is carefully shaped, baked, and assembled to ensure you get something truly special, not mass-produced, but made with genuine care and attention.
Inspired by Art, Made With Love
I've always been a creative person. Art galleries are my happy place, and over the years, we've collected pieces that inspire us daily. Those splashes of colour, those unexpected patterns, they all found their way into our designs. From bold abstract patterns to our ever-popular leopard print earrings, each collection reflects that artistic influence.
What started as a personal creative outlet quickly became something more. Friends and family loved the earrings, and we realised other people were searching for exactly what we were creating: statement pieces that are fun, affordable, and a little bit different.
A True Family Affair
Whilst I (Suzanne) handle all the jewellery making, cutting, shaping, and assembling each pair by hand, Violet Pineapple wouldn't exist without my incredible support team. My husband Andy, a graphic designer and marketing expert, has been instrumental in bringing the brand to life. From designing our logo to building our website and creating content, he's been there every step of the way.
It really is a dream partnership. Andy even joins me at craft fairs, where we get to meet customers face-to-face and share our passion for handmade earrings directly. And we can't forget our little helpers, our children, Oliver and Isla, who've become enthusiastic assistants at these events. There's something special about building a business as a family, and their excitement keeps us motivated.
Why UK-Made Matters to Us
We're incredibly proud that every single pair of earrings is made right here in Surrey, England. Supporting British craftsmanship and keeping production local means we can maintain quality control, reduce our environmental impact, and support our local community. When you buy from Violet Pineapple, you're not just getting a beautiful accessory, you're supporting a small, family-run UK business.
What's Next?
This is just the beginning of our journey, and we're so glad you're here to share it with us. Whether you're drawn to our vibrant abstract designs, our chic leopard print collection, or our seasonal pieces, we hope there's something that speaks to you.
We'll be using this blog to share behind-the-scenes glimpses of our creative process, introduce new collections, and celebrate the wonderful community that's growing around Violet Pineapple. We'd love to hear from you too. What colours inspire you? What styles would you like to see next?
Thank you for supporting our small business and for letting us add a little colour to your day.
With love and creativity,
Suzanne, Andy, Oliver & Isla
